Chairman
Everard O. Rutledge is a graduate of Florida A&M University where he received his undergraduate degree and University of Minnesota where he received his Master’s. In addition, he has his PhD in Health Care Administration. He became a licensed Funeral Director in 1996 and is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fielding Home for Funerals. He is a member of Zion Olivet Presbyterian Church where he also serves as an Elder. In addition to being a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, other community involvement includes formerly serving as a board member of Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation and the United Way, currently serving as a board member of the Coastal Community Foundation and mentoring at Frierson Elementary School. He is married to Ethel Lathen Rutledge and they have two children: Evera Rutledge Smith and Emily Camille Rutledge.

Vice President
Herbert joined the firm full time in 1948 after returning from service in the army, graduation from West Virginia State University, and attendance at Renouard Embalming School. He is vice president of the firm, and serves as comptroller and director of operations. He is a member of Calvary Episcopal Church and serves on the Vestry of the Church and the Sea Island Comprehensive Health Care Board of Directors, and is a life member of the NAACP. He is an ardent small game hunter, and also enjoys fishing.

Bernard R. Fielding received a Bachelor’s degree from Hampton University and L.L.D. from Boston University School of Law. He has practiced law for 50 years in Charleston SC and is the first African American elected to the Charleston County probate Court. Fielding served as the associate probate judge for 14 years and as the elected Probate Judge for 4 years. He is married to Conchita L. Fielding, secretary to the corporation’s current board, they have two children: Bernard R. Fielding, Jr. and Constance F. Person. He is proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. fraternity. Bernard R. Fielding has served as president and chief executive officer of the firm since approximately 1984. |

Mark J, Fielding a graduate of Shaw University class of 1983 Mark is also a graduate of Gupton-Jones class of 1985. He has been a licensed Funeral Director and licensed Embalmer since 1987. He is married to the former Thuane M, Brockington they have two children Mark J, Fielding, Jr and Semaj M, Fielding. Mark is presently a member of Morris Street Baptist where he serves as a trustee. He is also a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. |
